Nestled in the serene mountain village of Llessui, Restaurant Lo Pigal Casa Kiko offers an authentic taste of traditional Catalan cuisine deeply rooted in local, sustainable farming. This charming eatery stands out not only for its exceptional food but for the heartfelt passion that the owner infuses into every dish. Working his own farm by day and welcoming guests by night, he ensures that the freshest, highest-quality ingredients make their way directly onto your plate—creating a dining experience that feels both genuine and intimate.
The menu is a celebration of rich regional flavors, featuring standout dishes like the escúdella, a hearty local soup brimming with chickpeas, savory small sausages, and a robust broth that warms both body and soul. Starters showcase a delightful assortment of local cheeses, alioli de membrillo—a unique quince-infused garlic mayo that teases the palate with sweet and savory notes—alongside embotará, a variety of dried indigenous sausages, and rich local pâtés that invite sharing and conversation.
What struck me most was how even as a self-professed vegetarian, restaurant-goers like Ema Korabska found themselves utterly delighted by the vibrant flavors and mindful preparation on offer. This is a testament to the kitchen’s skill in transforming simple, locally farmed produce into memorable culinary moments.
The atmosphere here is quietly enchanting. Imagine dining on a sunlit balcony overlooking panoramic mountain vistas, a friendly dog roaming nearby, and the peaceful stillness of this tucked-away village enhancing every bite. Whether you arrive as part of a lively group—like Joanna Wiertel’s party of eleven—or as a couple seeking tranquility, the warmth and attentiveness of the family-run team ensures every visit feels like a heartfelt welcome.
Service is attentive without being intrusive, with dinner service beginning at a relaxed 9 PM, allowing guests to unwind fully before the meal begins. The combination of stunning scenery, carefully crafted traditional dishes, and genuine hospitality makes Restaurant Lo Pigal Casa Kiko an indispensable stop for anyone exploring the Lleida region. It’s a culinary jewel where every plate reveals a deep connection to the land, the people, and centuries-old Catalan traditions.
In summary, for those seeking more than just a meal—an immersive, flavor-rich experience paired with breathtaking views and heartfelt service—Lo Pigal Casa Kiko is a destination not to be missed.

To say that I am normally a vegetarian, I have fully enjoyed every meal. Knowing that they have their own farm close to the restaurant, and that the owner works around the animals during the day and serves people at night - you can clearly see a strong sense of passion in his work and therefore you can see it reflected in the qualify of the food as well!

Amazing food. The best food we had during our 5 days stay in Port Aine. From the starters, main dish and desserts. We were group of 11 and every single meal was fantastic and great quality. I believe it is the best place to eat in the area that can not be missed out. Plus the atmosphere is excellent and kids are welcomed.

I’ve lived in Catalunya 5years. This is amongst the top 3 restaurants. Really excellent cooking. For starters, try the escúdella (local soup with chickpeas, small sausages and broth.. share it, it’s huge) and the starter comprised of cheese, alioli de membrillo (alioli mixed with quince, really delicious), embotará (various dried local sausage) and local pate. Our mains were the ‘daina’ (some type of local mountain deer) and ‘el palpis’ -lamb in a stew including chocolate in the sauce. Desserts are all homemade and solid. I had Mel i mato (with queso de cabra) and partner had crocant casola (cream ice cream dressed with caramel and cocoa with chocolate truffle. We had to sit on the terrace because we have a whiney dog, but inside looks great. I can only imagine how amazing this place is in the snow season. I’d barely get in my skis.

The tranquility of this location is second to none. Add to that a sunny balcony with friendly dog, panoramic views, then a good traditional Catalan menu and family-run kitchen making most ingredients on the premises, and the result is memorable. Moltes graciès!
